Garcia followed by a recording of the American GI Forum (AGIF) event at the Boys and Girls Club in Corpus Christi, Texas where the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Scholarships were awarded. Dr. Hector makes remarks in which he mentions The Longoria Affair, addressed several statements that Mexican Americans here frequently, segregation in education, and the history of Texas, the United States, and Spanish. His speech continues in file 5AV0009_02. His speech encourages attendees to have pride in their Mexican culture and to be bilingual. challenging the young people to take roles of leadership in this country and their fathers to teach Spanish.
