Abstract
Description
Mark White, Attorney General of Texas, writes to the Honorable Bob Bullock, Comptroller of Public Accounts, responding to his questions about the language in article VIII, section 1-b(b) of the Texas Constitution which authorizes ad valorem tax exemptions for disabled persons. He believes that the language used adopts the definition of disability included in present and future disability legislation. He adds that disabled persons do not need to receive benefits under the federal act in order to qualify for the homestead tax exemption.
