The aim of this thesis is to reconstruct the history of the Blucher Archive. Rather than taking the life of the Blucher Archive to be a self-evident background, institution, and repository, this thesis will explore its “life” in order to understand how the archival turn may shed light on the Blucher Archive. The Blucher Archive has its own history. One that conditions the ability to interact with it, write from it, and understand the large system of power, control, and legitability that records keeping necessarily enables. The archive is the foundation for this thesis, meaning we are considering the archive as a unit of analysis unto itself rather than as a simple repository of historical source materials.en_US
